Dr. Todd Staker received his Bachelor
of Science in Chemistry from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He
was a starting basketball player for Miami for four years which sparked
his interest in sports medicine and sports injury. After college,
he had planned to attend medical school or continue his education
in chemistry to become a pharmacist. However, an old basketball injury
led him to chiropractic and he was able to personally experience the
benefits of chiropractic health care. He attended Palmer College of
Chiropractic and graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
He has post graduate studies in radiology, sports injury, and soft
tissue injuries. Dr. Staker is the team chiropractor for the Carolina
Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL), Chiropractic Consultant
for Cary High School Athletics, and extension faculty member for Palmer
College of Chiropractic. He is a member of the American Chiropractic
Association, North Carolina Chiropractic Association, and the Christian
Chiropractic Association. Dr. Staker is the chiropractic editor for
Health & Healing which can be found in most health care offices in
the Triangle. See the monthly editorial for Dr. Staker's most recent
article. He has medical doctors, massage therapists, physical therapists,
personal trainers, amateur and professional athletes, and many other
health care practitioners as his patients. He is one of the few chiropractors
in North Carolina that is certified in Active Release Technique (ART).
ART is a specialized form of myofascial release (deep tissue massage)
that treats muscle and tendon injuries, muscle adhesions and knots,
scar tissue and spasms. To help educate the public about work and
home related back injuries, Dr. Staker holds regular spinal care classes
in his office. The class addresses proper back hygiene, lifting, exercise,
stress management, and how to live a healthier lifestyle. The classes
are free and open to the public.
